New Secret Facebook Layout for Stream Revealed Today
See the first screenshots of Facebook‘s new secret layout for the news stream and chat bar. This morning I got a preview of a new, restructured facebook layout what might be rolled out soon to more users.
The most obvious change is the chat bar – again. Split into a news stream on top and friends below comprises what has been separated in 2 columns before, the news stream and the chat. The news and friends both can be scrolled separately. Many users complained about the new chat bar, as they only see random friends. Now you see most important friends in chat plus those who are online (and you can scroll them again).
The second change is the main column with friends’ news. The view options (latest news, top news, etc) have been erased. You can vote important news as “highlights” by clicking on a new icon on top of a friend’s post. If you share news yourself they will be placed on top of the other news.
Facebook is apparently trying to clean the user’s homepage by separating important news from friends (main column) from other news and updates from friends (right bar).
In my opinion this step is absolutely necessary. I personally don’t like to highlight the news in the main column because automated algorithm should recognize that for me. But to sort out updates from really important news is a brilliant step and makes facebook more convenient. Sweet!
How do you like that?
